Ocean Speedway 3-15-10,
Since I don’t have a dog in the
race this year at the track, and I plan on being
there hanging out and being my normal obnoxious self
any way, I thought it might be cool to offer up my
thoughts and impressions of the goings on out at
Ocean Speedway this year with regards to the Ocean
Sprints presented by Taco Bravo series. I have
always been a fan first and the winged sprint car
racing at Ocean has gotten to be very entertaining
to say the least. I always find a way to stick my
nose in and see what is going on at the track, with
the teams, and with who ever and what ever else I
stumble upon. And you know I never have a lack of
opinion on stuff! So keep in mind the opinions and
thoughts expressed will be only mine (like I really
care about any others!) and will be totally
unofficial and unconnected from the track (I am sure
john prentice and his staff will be happy for that
disclaimer!). So as I roam around I will try to note
things of interest (at least to me) and pass them
along. Remember, I am not a journalist and don’t
claim to be one. I’m just a fan out to have fun at
the track and pass on my impressions. So after every
Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo event at Ocean
Speedway this year I hope to bring you my
perspective of things.
A few things that already come
to mind include the addition to the Ocean Sprints
this year of a couple of well known names in area
motorsports. Those would be Gary Thomas as the PR
guy/announcer and Taco Bravo as the series sponsor.
While it is not a news flash to mention the two, I
feel it is important to give them both space here as
they are each playing a part in the support and
growth of the racing program. So thanks GT and
Dennis Wuollet. I have enjoyed Taco Bravo food for
years and would encourage anyone to support them by
stopping in to one of their south bay locations(they
have 4 now) for
a bite to eat. I know both the Bascom Ave in
Campbell and the Snell Rd in San Jose restaurants
are open late (till 2 or 3 am) on Fri nights so you
can grab a bite after the races if you are in those
areas. Hey, maybe Dennis Wuollet, owner of Taco
Bravo could use me as a spokes person. Kind of like
that lady that lost all that weight eating at taco
bell. Well on second thought, maybe Dennis doesn’t
want to use me, lol!
Ok, moving on, I think it will
be interesting to see if the fight for the coveted
Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo series title
will be as tight and as hard fought this year as it
was last year. Will Tommy Tarlton again prove to be
the man to stop BK from claiming another ocean
title? Who else might rise to the top of the heap?
Who might be the hero of the week and more
important, who might go from hero to zero! Those are
just some of the deep hard hitting issues (yeah,
right) we will be looking to have resolved this
year. So make plans to buzz on out to the track this
year and show your support!
See you at the races, Buzz Rightrear.
